Before you start risking your own money at the tables, whether it be online, in the casino or just in afriendly game with your friends, there are quite a few things to consider.
First of all, before all else, you must know the hand ranks. If you're not sure which hand beats which then don't go anywhere near a table or you're sure to lose your shirt!
Here are the hand ranks in order from the best to the lowest;
1st) Straight Flush - 5 cards of the same suit in sequence of which there are 40 possible combinations & a 1 in 64,974 chance of making.
2nd) Four Of A Kind - 4 cards of the same rank with an odd 5th card (which is of no consequence). There are 624 possible combinations & a 1 in 4,165 chance of making.
3rd) Full House - 3 cards of 1 rank with 2 cards of another rank. In event of two players having a full house, the highest ranking set of 3 wins. There are 3,744 combinations & a 1 in 694 chance.
4th) Flush - 5 cards of the same suit but not in sequence. Highest card wins in a tie. 5,108 combinations & a 1 in 509 chance of making.
5th) Straight - 5 cards in sequence but not of same suit. 10,200 combinations & 1 in 255 chance of making.
